Roll-to-Roll LED Strip Lights | DENO LED

Every model in this series uses DENO's electroplated, non-die-cut roll-to-roll FPCB rather than die-cut sheet FPCB. There are no intermediate PCB splice joints within the specified continuous length, and installers can cut at the stated interval to suit the project drawing. Compare operating voltage, light output, cutting interval and rated run length before selecting the reel format and power-feed plan.

Roll-to-Roll (R2R) LED Strip — Buyer Questions

What is roll-to-roll LED strip manufacturing?

DENO roll-to-roll LED strip manufacturing — also written reel-to-reel, and abbreviated R2R — uses an electroplated, non-die-cut FPCB kept as one continuous web through plating, etching, SMT assembly and packing. The circuit therefore carries no intermediate PCB splice joints inside its specified continuous length. Cutting interval, powered run length and feed arrangement remain model-specific.

What is an electroplated, non-die-cut FPCB?

A die-cut FPCB starts from rolled-annealed copper foil, typically 35 µm with 50 µm heavy variants, laminated to polyimide and mechanically punched. An electroplated non-die-cut FPCB grows the copper electrolytically onto the base film instead, so DENO's R2R circuits reach copper up to 105 µm or thicker with ±10 µm trace-width control. Compare the documented specifications rather than the process label alone.

What does a splice-free continuous FPCB actually mean?

DENO's electroplated, non-die-cut R2R FPCB has no intermediate PCB splice joints within the specified continuous circuit length. It is not a claim that the strip contains no soldered components, and it is separate from dot-free illumination, which is an optical property of pitch and diffusion. Cutting interval, run length and power-feed requirements remain model-specific.

Is a 50 m LED strip roll the same as a 50 m powered run?

No. The supplied reel length describes packaging; the maximum powered run length depends on the model's operating voltage, power per metre and feed arrangement. Reel formats are model-specific, so confirm both the available reel length and the required power-feed plan — including any mid-run injection — before you specify a long installation.

Which R2R LED strip suits SMD and SOB projects?

R2R SMD LED strip is the general-purpose choice for coves, shelves and architectural lines where discrete packages and standard cut units are appropriate. R2R SOB builds add a coated, dot-free luminous surface for exposed and close-viewing positions. Both use DENO's electroplated, non-die-cut FPCB; cutting interval, run length and power-feed requirements remain model-specific.

Can DENO manufacture a custom or OEM roll-to-roll LED strip?

Yes. As an LED strip and LED tape manufacturer running its own FPCB, SMT and extrusion lines, DENO develops custom and OEM/ODM roll-to-roll builds: board width, copper weight, LED pitch, cut interval, IP construction, reel format, connectors and packaging. Send the length, electrical specification, quantity and environment so feasibility and reel availability can be confirmed for your project.

Frequently asked questions

What are the primary advantages of DENO LED's roll to roll LED strip technology?

DENO LED's roll to roll manufacturing process utilizes electroplated FPCBs, enhancing durability and electrical conductivity. This method facilitates the production of extended, continuous LED strip lengths with consistent quality, minimizing connection points and simplifying installation for large-scale projects. It also supports advanced features like SOB dot-free technology.

What are the typical maximum continuous run lengths for DENO's 24V roll to roll LED strips?

The maximum continuous run length for a 24V roll to roll LED strip depends on its power density and the conductor's copper thickness. While standard rolls are often 5m, DENO's manufacturing capabilities allow for significantly longer custom runs, reducing voltage drop concerns and the need for multiple power feeds compared to conventional strips. Specific project requirements should be discussed with our technical team.

Can DENO LED provide custom color temperatures or specific CRI/R9 values for roll to roll LED strips?

Yes, as an OEM/ODM manufacturer, DENO LED offers customization for color temperature (CCT) and color rendering index (CRI) for our roll to roll LED strip products. We typically provide high CRI options (Ra>90, R9>50) and maintain tight 1 SDCM binning for color consistency across production batches. Specific CCTs and CRI targets can be accommodated based on project specifications.

What IP ratings are available for the roll to roll LED strip products, and how are they achieved?

DENO LED offers various IP ratings for our roll to roll LED strip products, ranging from IP20 (non-waterproof) to IP67. Higher IP ratings are achieved through silicone extrusion, nano-coating, or heat-shrink tubing encapsulation processes. The appropriate IP rating depends on the intended application environment, from dry indoor spaces to outdoor or wet locations.

How long can an LED strip roll run be in one continuous piece?

A standard reel is 5 m, but a DENO roll-to-roll LED strip roll is one uninterrupted circuit, so single runs of 10 m, 15 m and up to 20 m are available. The practical limit depends on power density and copper weight: at 4.8 W/m on 2 oz copper a 20 m single-end feed stays within a 3% voltage drop, while 19.2 W/m strips need a shorter run or a both-ends/mid-feed connection.

How do you connect two rolls of LED strip lights without a visible seam?

Solder the copper pads end to end and cover the joint with heat-shrink, or use a 2-pin snap connector when soldering is not possible. Because a DENO strip roll ships as one long reel, most projects never need a joint at all - order the exact run length and cut only at the marked cut points.

What is the difference between a roll-to-roll LED strip and a standard 5 m reel?

A standard reel is die-cut and pieced together, so the copper trace is interrupted where sections meet. Roll-to-roll uses an electroplated continuous FPCB: uniform copper thickness across the whole reel, lower resistance, no weak solder points, and consistent brightness from the first LED to the last.

Are long LED strip lights available in 12V as well as 24V?

Yes. 12V versions exist for short cabinet and automotive runs, but for long continuous led strip lighting we recommend 24V (or 48V for very long corridors) because voltage drop over distance is roughly four times lower at the same power per metre.
