DENO LED Lighting

LED Strip Calculator: Power, Voltage Drop & Lux | DENO

ProCalc™ is a free LED strip calculator suite from DENO LED Lighting, a Shenzhen and Foshan based OEM/ODM manufacturer. Modules cover power supply sizing (W/m × length × derating), voltage drop on 12V/24V/48V FPCBs with 1oz, 2oz and 35+70µm copper, lumen and lux targets, cut-unit and dimming planning, IP20–IP68 environment selection, dot-free profile prediction and CRI/R9/TM-30 spectrum reporting. Parameters entered once flow through every module, can be loaded from real DENO models, and can be exported as an engineering PDF to request an OEM, ODM or fully custom LED strip quotation.

What each LED strip calculator answers

ProCalc™ is a free LED strip calculator suite published by DENO LED Lighting, a Shenzhen and Foshan based manufacturer of flexible linear lighting. Every module runs on the same parameter set, so a value entered once flows through power sizing, run length, illuminance and compliance without re-entry.

LED strip power supply calculator: total load is power per metre multiplied by run length, then sized at roughly 120 per cent so the driver never sits at full output. A 14.4 W/m tape over 5 m draws 72 W and wants a 90 W driver; over 20 m it needs 288 W or a split feed.

LED strip voltage drop calculator for 12V, 24V and 48V runs: copper resistance, feed topology and system voltage decide how far a run can go before the far end visibly dims. The simulator models 1 oz, 2 oz and 35+70 micron copper with single-end, both-end and mid-point feeding, and reports worst-case end-of-run brightness.

Lumen and lux calculator: enter target illuminance, mounting height and profile transmittance and the suite returns the lm/m the tape must deliver, the wattage that implies and the efficacy needed to stay inside the energy class being specified.

  • Cutting and dimming planner — cut units per length, offcut waste, and whether PWM, 0-10V, DALI or linear constant-current dimming suits the driver.
  • IP rating and environment selector — IP20, IP65, IP67 and IP68 construction mapped to real installations.
  • Dot-free profile advisor — LED pitch, profile depth, diffuser transmittance and beam angle combined to predict a continuous line of light.
  • Spectrum reporter — CRI, R9, TM-30 fidelity and gamut for violet-excited full spectrum tape.

From calculation to a custom LED strip built to your numbers

The result of a calculation is a specification: a wattage per metre, a run length, a copper weight, an IP construction and a colour target. DENO builds to exactly that specification as a custom LED strip manufacturer — OEM production under your brand, ODM development from your performance brief, bespoke FPCB width and cut unit, private-label reels, printed labels and your own ordering codes.

Typical requests engineers bring here: a non-standard voltage for a long facade run, a tighter LED pitch for a shallow profile, a 2 oz or double-layer copper build for a corridor, a sealed IP68 variant for an in-ground detail, or a full spectrum tint for a gallery. Export the ProCalc report, attach it to an enquiry, and the engineering team quotes against the same numbers.

Frequently asked questions

What size power supply do I need for my LED strip?

Multiply power per metre by run length, then add about 20 per cent headroom. A 14.4 W/m tape over 5 m draws 72 W and should be driven by a 90 W supply; over 20 m it draws 288 W, which usually means two feeds or a higher system voltage.

How far can a 24V LED strip run before the far end dims?

With 2 oz copper and single-end feeding, a typical 24V tape holds within 5 per cent brightness for roughly 8–10 m. Feeding both ends, tapping at the mid point on linear constant-current tape, or moving to 48V extends that to 20 m and beyond. The voltage-drop module reports the worst-case brightness for your exact copper weight and feed topology.

Is the ProCalc LED strip calculator free to use?

Yes. Every calculator is free and needs no sign-up. An account is only requested when you export the engineering report as a PDF, so the report can be attached to a quotation.

Can I calculate with the specifications of a real product?

Yes. The parameter library reads every public DENO model together with its measured photoelectric matrix and fills in voltage, maximum run length, lm/m and W/m automatically, so the calculation matches the tape the factory actually ships.

How do I convert lm/m into lux on the working plane?

The lux module takes target illuminance, mounting height, beam angle and profile transmittance and returns the lm/m the tape must deliver, along with the resulting wattage and lm/W efficacy needed to meet the energy class.

Can DENO manufacture a custom LED strip to my calculated specification?

Yes. DENO is an OEM and ODM manufacturer: bespoke FPCB width, copper weight, LED pitch, cut unit, voltage, IP construction, CCT and CRI, private-label reels and your own ordering codes. Export the ProCalc report and the engineering team quotes against the same numbers.

What is the difference between OEM and ODM for LED strip orders?

OEM means DENO produces an existing engineering platform under your brand and packaging. ODM means DENO develops the product from your performance brief — photoelectric target, mechanical envelope and compliance requirement — and owns the engineering work up to sample approval.

Which calculator should I use for a dot-free cove?

Start with the dot-free profile advisor: it combines LED pitch, profile depth, diffuser transmittance and beam angle to predict whether the run reads as a continuous line, then check run length in the voltage-drop module and the cut unit in the cutting planner.
