LED Strip Cutting & Layout Calculator

LED strip can only be cut at marked cut points, so every run length rounds to a whole number of cut units. The planner reports how many units fit each run, the offcut waste and the joints a layout needs.

How the LED Strip Cutting & Layout Calculator works

LED strip can only be cut at marked cut points, so every run length rounds to a whole number of cut units. The planner reports how many units fit each run, the offcut waste and the joints a layout needs.

Summing the runs gives an order quantity in reels, which keeps purchasing and site cutting on the same numbers.

  • Cut only at marked cut points.
  • Each run rounds to whole cut units.
  • Waste and joints summed into an order quantity.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I cut an LED strip?

Only at the marked cut points between circuit segments; cutting elsewhere disables the segment.

How do I calculate how much LED strip to order?

Round each run to whole cut units, add the runs together and allow for joints and offcuts; the planner does this per run.

Why does my LED strip run come out shorter than measured?

Because the run must end on a cut point, the usable length rounds down to the nearest whole cut unit.
