Electroplated R2R FPCB — 105μm Copper, 100m Seamless | DENO

Electroplated Roll-to-Roll (R2R) FPCB is DENO's additive manufacturing process where 105 μm of 99.9% electrolytic copper is grown atom-by-atom on a continuous polyimide reel up to 100 m long. Compared to mechanical Die-Cut R2R (50 μm RA foil, micro-fractured edges), Electroplated R2R delivers +110% conductive capacity, halved voltage drop, ±10 μm trace accuracy, and molecularly smooth edges — the engineering foundation for next-generation SOB LED strip lighting.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Electroplated R2R and Die-Cut R2R?

Electroplated R2R is an additive electrochemical process — copper traces are grown atom-by-atom on the polyimide film, producing molecularly smooth edges and 105 μm thickness with ±10 μm accuracy. Die-Cut R2R is a subtractive mechanical process — pre-rolled RA copper foil (50 μm) is laminated and then physically punched, leaving micro-fractures and burrs at cut edges. Both reach 50–100 m seamless reels, but only Electroplated R2R supports the fine pitch and thermal capacity needed for high-density SOB packaging.

Why is 105 μm copper better than 50 μm?

By Ohm's law (R = ρ·L/S), doubling copper cross-section halves resistance per metre. For a 24V/15W/m strip over 10 m, this means significantly less voltage drop — the last LED is as bright as the first. 105 μm copper also dissipates heat 2× faster, lowering LED junction temperature by 5–10 °C and extending L70 lifespan.

How long can a single R2R FPCB reel be?

DENO's Electroplated R2R line produces continuous unibody FPCB up to 100 m per reel — no joints, no splices, no dimensional drift. Combined with our 50-meter SMT and silicone extrusion lines, this enables single-piece seamless LED strip runs longer than any conventional process.

Does R2R FPCB require special drivers or controllers?

No. R2R FPCB strips use standard constant-voltage DC drivers (12V / 24V / 36V / 48V depending on model). The thicker copper actually relaxes driver placement requirements — single-end feeding works for runs where standard 50 μm strips would require centre-feed or both-end injection.

Is Electroplated R2R suitable for outdoor / wet locations?

Yes. The R2R FPCB itself is the conductive substrate; weatherproofing is handled by silicone extrusion or IP-rated coating applied during the 50 m extrusion line process. DENO offers IP54 / IP65 / IP67 / IP68 variants on R2R-based strips for facade, landscape, and submerged applications.
