DENO LED Lighting

Dot-Free LED Profile Advisor

Whether a run reads as a continuous line or a row of dots depends on four variables together: LED pitch, the distance from the emitter to the diffuser (profile depth), diffuser transmittance and beam angle.

How the Dot-Free LED Profile Advisor works

Whether a run reads as a continuous line or a row of dots depends on four variables together: LED pitch, the distance from the emitter to the diffuser (profile depth), diffuser transmittance and beam angle.

Tighter pitch allows a shallower profile; a denser diffuser hides dots but costs light output. SOB and high density boards reduce the depth needed for a uniform line.

  • LED pitch: closer emitters need less depth.
  • Profile depth: more distance blends the dots.
  • Diffuser transmittance and beam angle trade uniformity for output.

Frequently asked questions

How deep should an LED profile be to avoid dots?

Required depth depends on LED pitch, diffuser transmittance and beam angle together; the advisor balances these for the tape and profile you select.

Does SOB LED strip need a diffuser to look dot-free?

SOB boards are designed to reduce visible dots and need less profile depth, though the final look still depends on the diffuser and installation.

Why does a frosted diffuser reduce brightness?

A denser diffuser scatters more light to hide individual emitters, which lowers transmittance and therefore light output.
