Frequently Asked Questions
What are the common applications for the 840-RGBW COB LED strip light?
This versatile COB LED strip is perfect for decorative lighting, backlighting, ceiling coves, staircases, walkways, billboards, and cabinet lighting within commercial and architectural projects.
Does Deno LED offer customization options for this COB LED strip series?
Yes, we provide extensive customization, including custom FPC printing, aluminum foil packaging, carton boxes, connectors, DC cables, and custom FPC designs, colors, and widths.
What are the power requirements and dimming capabilities of the 840-RGBW?
The 840-RGBW operates on a 24V constant voltage system and is fully dimmable, allowing for precise control over brightness and color output for your lighting designs.
What is the warranty and expected lifespan for this product?
The 840-RGBW COB LED strip light comes with a 5-year warranty and boasts a robust lifespan of 50,000 hours, ensuring long-term reliability for professional installations.
Is a COB LED strip better than an SMD strip for dot-free lighting?
Yes for continuous linear light. A COB LED strip spreads phosphor over the whole surface, so there are no visible dots even without a deep diffuser, while a standard SMD strip needs 240 LEDs/m plus a frosted cover to get close. Choose SMD only when you need higher output per watt or RGB pixel control.
Which aluminum channel should I use with this COB LED strip?
Match the channel inner width to the strip PCB width — 8mm and 10mm COB strips fit DENO 10x10mm, 12x8mm and 17.5x7mm profiles. A surface mount channel suits shelves and ceilings, a recessed trimless channel suits plaster-in cove lines, and the aluminum body also acts as the heat sink the strip needs.
RGBW COB LED Strip — Buyer Questions
What is an RGBW COB LED strip?
An RGBW COB LED strip is a 4-in-1 dot-free tape: red, green and blue channels for colour plus a dedicated white channel for usable light, all under one continuous phosphor line. DENO builds it at up to 840 LEDs/m on a 24V board, so colour transitions look like moving light rather than a row of pixels.

Why choose RGBW instead of RGB for architectural lighting?
Because RGB white is not a usable white. Mixing red, green and blue gives a low-CRI, slightly greenish white that no client accepts for everyday light; the dedicated white die in an RGBW COB strip delivers a proper 3000K or 4000K at high CRI, so one installed line covers both scene colour and general lighting.

How is a 4-in-1 RGBW COB LED strip wired?
Five conductors — a shared positive and four negatives — into a 4-channel RGBW controller or a DMX512 decoder. Size the driver for all four channels at full output; on a 24V RGBW board that is typically 14–19W/m even though normal scenes draw far less.

Where is RGBW dot-free tape used in hospitality and retail?
In reception coves, bar fronts, feature walls and display joinery, where the space needs neutral white in daytime and branded colour at night. Because the line is dot-free, the strip can sit in a shallow reveal in full view without showing hardware.

Can RGBW COB strip be supplied with a custom white channel?
Yes. The white channel is specified per order — 2700K, 3000K, 4000K or 6500K, at CRI 90 or 95 — and amber 1800K–2200K is available for façade schemes. Minimum order quantities apply to non-standard whites.

Colour Changing COB LED Strip — Buyer Questions
What is a multi colour COB LED strip?
A multi colour COB LED strip puts two or more channels under the same continuous phosphor line, so the colour changes but the dots never appear. DENO builds CCT (dual white), RGB, RGBW and SPI addressable versions from 360 to 840 LEDs/m at 24V, all cut-to-length and all dot-free at 180°.

Should I choose CCT, RGB or RGBW COB LED strip?
Choose CCT when the space only needs white light that shifts from 2700K to 6500K, RGB when colour is decorative, and RGBW when one line must do both — saturated colour for events and a proper white for everyday use. RGBW costs more per metre but removes the second strip most projects otherwise install.

Can colour changing COB tape dim smoothly without flicker?
Yes, with a PWM driver above 3 kHz or a flicker-free constant-voltage supply. Because the phosphor line is continuous there is no stroboscopic dot pattern for a camera to catch, so DENO multi-colour COB tape is a common choice for studios and retail spaces filmed on phones.
Need more than 12W/m of dot-free light? Meet the SOB upgrade
COB LED strip is the reference for seamless, dot-free lines — but the shared phosphor layer caps most builds around 12W/m and a 5 m single feed. DENO's SOB series is the direct upgrade: the same continuous line on flip-chip dies and 105 µm copper, carrying 24W/m, CRI 95 and 15 m runs from one feed. Spec the COB range for coves and joinery; step up to SOB when the lux target or the run length says so.
