What is an LED aluminum profile?

An LED aluminum profile — also called an LED channel or LED extrusion — is an anodised aluminum housing with a PC diffuser cover that holds LED strip lights. It does three jobs at once: it sinks heat away from the tape so lumen maintenance holds up, it protects the FPCB from knocks and cleaning, and its frosted cover blends the individual LEDs into one continuous, dot-free line. DENO channels accept strips from 5mm to 12mm PCB width in 0.5–4m lengths.

How do I choose between a recessed, surface, corner or magnetic LED channel?

Start from the surface, not the strip. Plasterboard ceilings and trimless architectural lines take a flange or plaster-in housing; an exposed ceiling, shelf or wall takes a surface mounted extrusion; a 45 degree cabinet or wardrobe edge takes a V shape body; steel shelving and display cases take a magnetic body that clips on without screws. Depth then follows the strip: allow 7mm or more of diffuser gap for 120 LEDs/m tape, less for 240 LEDs/m.

What LED strip width fits an aluminum channel?

Match the channel's internal slot to the PCB width, not to the strip's wattage. DENO housings cover 4/5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 15mm FPCB — a 10mm strip needs a 10mm slot such as the 16x13mm or 19.1x8mm body, while 5mm micro tape sits in the 8.89x7.79mm mini profile. Leave the tape flat against the base so the aluminum can act as a heat sink.

Does an aluminum LED channel work as a heat sink?

Yes, and it is the main reason engineers specify one. Aluminum pulls heat out of the copper FPCB and spreads it along the extrusion, which keeps junction temperature down on 24V and 48V high-power runs and protects both the phosphor and the adhesive. The taller the body and the thicker the wall, the more surface area you get — deep 20x15mm and 20x30mm bodies are the right choice above roughly 15W/m.

Will I still see LED dots through the diffuser?

Dot visibility depends on three things: LED pitch, the gap between tape and cover, and cover transmittance. A frosted or opal cover with at least 7mm of depth hides 120 LEDs/m in most sightlines; 240 LEDs/m tape reads as a solid line in almost any body; and a COB or SOB strip is dot-free from the moment it is switched on. Clear covers give maximum lumens but show every die, so keep them for uplight and hidden coves.

Can LED channels be cut to custom lengths and ordered OEM?

Every extrusion ships in 0.5–4m bars and can be cut on site with a mitre saw or supplied pre-cut to project lengths. As an LED aluminum profile manufacturer, DENO also runs custom extrusion dies, anodised silver or black finishes, printed end caps and full OEM/ODM kits with clips, connectors and matched strips — the same factory supplies the tape, so the channel, the diffuser and the LED strip are validated together.
