Addressable LED Strip — Buyer Questions
What is an addressable LED strip?
An addressable (pixel) LED strip carries a driver IC for each LED or short segment, so every pixel can be set to its own colour and brightness over a single data line. It is used for signage, media facades, stair effects, studio and stage lighting where a plain RGB run cannot produce movement or gradients.

WS2812B vs WS2815 vs SK6812 — which addressable LED strip should I use?
WS2812B is the 5V baseline, cheapest and best for short USB or prop runs. WS2815 is 12V with a backup data line, so a failed pixel does not kill the rest of the run — the usual choice for architectural installs. SK6812 adds a real white die (RGBW) for projects that also need clean ambient white.

How many pixels per metre can an addressable LED strip have?
DENO builds addressable layouts from 30 pixels/m up to 700 pixels/m. Above roughly 240 pixels/m the tape reads as a continuous animated line rather than individual points, which is what signage and media-facade work needs at close viewing distance.

How long can an addressable LED strip run be?
The limit is data timing and current, not the tape itself. Keep an SPI data segment under about 5 m before re-amplifying, inject power every 2–5 m depending on voltage and density, and prefer 12V or 24V pixel builds for long architectural runs. DENO adds breakout points at every cut unit so power and data injection do not require cutting the run apart.

Can an addressable LED strip be driven by DMX?
Yes, through an SPI decoder that converts DMX512 or Art-Net into the strip's clockless protocol, or by specifying a DMX-native pixel IC on an OEM build. For architectural control systems DENO usually recommends a 12V/24V pixel board plus a DMX-to-SPI decoder per zone.
Can I order a custom addressable LED strip?
Yes — pixel pitch, IC type, voltage, segment length, PCB width, copper weight and IP class are all configurable. DENO tools custom pixel layouts, including mixed pixel/static zones on one board, from its existing FPCB stack-ups.
