Frequently Asked Questions
What are the key benefits of COB LED technology for this strip light?
COB LED technology provides a continuous, uniform light output without visible dots, offering a seamless and clean aesthetic. This makes it ideal for applications requiring high-quality, dot-free linear illumination.
Is this COB LED strip light compatible with standard dimmer systems?
Yes, the DENO LED 6705 COB strip light is dimmable, allowing for flexible control over light intensity. It is compatible with most 24V constant voltage dimmer systems.
What certifications does the DENO LED 6705 strip light hold?
The DENO LED 6705 COB strip light is manufactured in compliance with RoHS environmental standards, ensuring it is free from hazardous materials. Further certifications can be provided upon request.
Can this COB LED strip light be customized for specific project requirements?
While the standard length is 5m with 100mm cutting marks, DENO LED offers customizable solutions for larger projects regarding specific lengths, connectivity, and profiles to meet unique design needs.
Is a COB LED strip better than an SMD strip for dot-free lighting?
Yes for continuous linear light. A COB LED strip spreads phosphor over the whole surface, so there are no visible dots even without a deep diffuser, while a standard SMD strip needs 240 LEDs/m plus a frosted cover to get close. Choose SMD only when you need higher output per watt or RGB pixel control.
Which aluminum channel should I use with this COB LED strip?
Match the channel inner width to the strip PCB width — 8mm and 10mm COB strips fit DENO 10x10mm, 12x8mm and 17.5x7mm profiles. A surface mount channel suits shelves and ceilings, a recessed trimless channel suits plaster-in cove lines, and the aluminum body also acts as the heat sink the strip needs.
Addressable SPI COB LED Strip — Buyer Questions
What is an SPI addressable COB LED strip?
An SPI COB LED strip is a dot-free tape with a driver IC controlling each addressable segment, so chasing, gradient and running-water effects play across a continuous line instead of a row of visible pixels. DENO builds addressable COB boards at 24V with WS2811-class and UCS-class ICs, segment lengths specified per project.

Which IC should an addressable COB LED strip use?
Pick by control system and segment length: WS2811/WS2812-class ICs suit standard SPI controllers and short segments, UCS2904-class ICs add a fourth channel for RGBW effects, and constant-current ICs keep brightness identical along a long run. Tell DENO the controller you use and the IC is matched to it.

How smooth is a chasing effect on a dot-free strip?
Much smoother than on SMD pixel tape. Because the phosphor line is continuous, a moving segment reads as a travelling band of light with soft edges, not a series of switching dots — which is why stage, KTV, club and signage projects specify addressable COB for slow gradients and running-water sequences.

How far can an SPI COB LED strip run before data or power injection?
Plan power injection every 5 m at 24V and follow the IC's data-length limit, typically 5–10 m per data line before a repeater. Data errors usually show as a flickering tail, so specify the run length up front and DENO pre-plans the injection points on the drawing.

Can addressable COB tape be driven from DMX or Art-Net?
Yes, through an SPI decoder. DMX512 and Art-Net controllers convert to the SPI protocol the strip expects, which is the normal route for stage and architectural media installations that need the dot-free line to sit inside an existing lighting network.

Colour Changing COB LED Strip — Buyer Questions
What is a multi colour COB LED strip?
A multi colour COB LED strip puts two or more channels under the same continuous phosphor line, so the colour changes but the dots never appear. DENO builds CCT (dual white), RGB, RGBW and SPI addressable versions from 360 to 840 LEDs/m at 24V, all cut-to-length and all dot-free at 180°.

Should I choose CCT, RGB or RGBW COB LED strip?
Choose CCT when the space only needs white light that shifts from 2700K to 6500K, RGB when colour is decorative, and RGBW when one line must do both — saturated colour for events and a proper white for everyday use. RGBW costs more per metre but removes the second strip most projects otherwise install.

Can colour changing COB tape dim smoothly without flicker?
Yes, with a PWM driver above 3 kHz or a flicker-free constant-voltage supply. Because the phosphor line is continuous there is no stroboscopic dot pattern for a camera to catch, so DENO multi-colour COB tape is a common choice for studios and retail spaces filmed on phones.
Need more than 12W/m of dot-free light? Meet the SOB upgrade
COB LED strip is the reference for seamless, dot-free lines — but the shared phosphor layer caps most builds around 12W/m and a 5 m single feed. DENO's SOB series is the direct upgrade: the same continuous line on flip-chip dies and 105 µm copper, carrying 24W/m, CRI 95 and 15 m runs from one feed. Spec the COB range for coves and joinery; step up to SOB when the lux target or the run length says so.
