Is 90 CRI enough, or do you need a 95 or 98 CRI LED strip?
90 CRI is enough for general architectural light, but it can hide an R9 as low as 20, which is why red fabric and timber look flat under some 90 CRI tape. Standard DENO production is Ra 95+ with R9 above 90, typically TM-30 Rf 93 and Rg near 100, and a 98 CRI LED strip selection is produced on request for gallery, film and inspection work. Every reel carries its measured spectral report, and 1-SDCM binning is available when reels must match in one visual field.
What each number on the test report means
Ra is the eight-sample average and is the figure most datasheets quote. R9 is the deep-red test colour and the one that separates a genuine full-spectrum board from a padded Ra number — an R9 of 20 can still average Ra 90, while DENO holds R9 above 90 so red pigments, timber and skin keep their depth. Rf and Rg come from TM-30-20 and describe fidelity and gamut across 99 samples.
Duv tells you whether the white point sits above or below the blackbody locus. DENO holds duv within ±0.003, because a board that measures Ra 95 but sits green-tinted at duv +0.006 will still be rejected on site.
Consistency between reels and repeat orders
Colour consistency is binned in MacAdam ellipses. Standard production is held inside 3 SDCM, which is invisible to most observers on separate walls but can be seen where two reels meet on one continuous cove. For those installations DENO supplies 1-SDCM selected material, and records the bin against the lot number so a repeat order two years later still matches the original run.
