Can long LED light strips be cut to an exact length for a room or kitchen?

Yes. Cut units run from 12.5 mm to 100 mm depending on voltage and density, so a run can be trimmed on site to a drawing dimension, and DENO also pre-cuts and pre-wires to length at the factory. For a room perimeter or a kitchen the cut unit is the specification to check first: it decides how closely the finished line of light can match the millwork, and it grows as input voltage rises.

Cut unit versus run length — the practical tension

The two requirements pull in opposite directions. A long run wants a high voltage; a precise finish wants a short cut unit, which wants a low voltage. For most rooms the answer is a 24V constant-current board: 50 mm cut units, up to 20 m per feed, which comfortably covers a perimeter cove or a full run of wall units without a joint.

Where a kitchen run has to stop flush with a cabinet edge, a micro-cut board takes the repeat down to 12.5 mm at the cost of some run length — usually irrelevant, because a kitchen rarely needs more than 10 m in one continuous line.

Getting the finish right

Details that separate a joinery-grade install from a visible one:

  • Order pre-cut and pre-wired to the drawing dimension where possible
  • Choose an opal diffuser and enough depth to hide the pitch
  • Mount in aluminium profile above ~10 W/m, even indoors
  • Keep the driver accessible — behind a plinth panel, not sealed in
  • Specify one production lot for the whole room so the whites match
