When should you choose blue-excited full spectrum CRI LED lights?

Choose the blue-excited family when you need Ra 95 CRI LED lights but the watts are being counted. A 450 nm pump with an optimised red phosphor holds Ra 95 and R9 above 90 at roughly 120-140 lm/W, only slightly below a standard Ra 80 board and well ahead of violet excitation. That makes it the default for long architectural coves, hospitality and office schemes, ErP-labelled luminaires and any project where the connected load has to stay inside an energy budget.

What the blue-pump architecture gives you

The 450 nm die converts efficiently, so the same 14.4 W/m board delivers roughly 30% more lumens than its violet-pumped equivalent. DENO adds green and red phosphors on top of the standard YAG layer to lift the 480–500 nm shoulder and the deep-red tail, which is what pushes Ra from 80 to 95+ and R9 past 90 without a visible magenta cast.

A residual 450 nm spike remains in the curve. For architectural white light that is invisible; under a spectrometer it shows as a narrow peak followed by a shallow cyan dip. Where that dip matters — pigment matching, film, dermatology — the violet-pumped family is the correct specification instead.
